Breathing Technique

Write about the very unusual "breathing technique" that we do in class each day. What are its benefits? What are its weaknesses? How do you feel about it as a student?

  2. BREATHING TECHNIQUE

    Well the first day that I came to this class. I dint like this class because I thought it was going to be so hard. But then a couple days I began to like it. Because it wasn’t hard like I had thought. It was kind of easy so that’s why I started to like it. Then we started to do something that is called “Breathing Technique.” Thats something that we do everyday and i also like it. Because it makes you to concentrate good. So thats why i like the Breathing Technique.

  3. Well I do like the breathing technique because when I close my eyes I think clear. And when i am in another class i take longer time to think because i can't consternate really good. So thats why i like this class so much.

  4. well what i thought about breathing Technique is that i really thought it was boring and not fun and i thought it was not going to help me in nothing but then when we started doing it over and over agin i started to see that it really does help me a lot thats what i think it makes me feel better and pay more attention in class

    I think the Breathing Technique help me because help me relax. when is me first day in this school. when we did first time the Breathing Technique help me to think much things what i have to write a story. because last year we don't did. and the class it different like more class. and it only the class doing a Breathing Technique.

Well the Breathing Technique for me is good because i get to think what I'm going to write about in my writing journal and cause we write about what we think and not other people we write but no one gets to read it cause its are own things. and i get to write in this class to much then i did last year and also the year before that and that's why i like the Breathing Technique. And Miss. Naugher helps us write when we don't now how to spell words and help us read hard words and i'm glad to do Breathing Technique cause we don't get to write what we think like.

  14. the first time that i came in to this class i thought the breathing technique was crazy . But after doing it about 20 times i think i have gotten better at writing. Although sometimes i think the music is a little loud, and i cant think about what to write about. Overall i think the breathing technique has helped me become a better writer.

    The first time we did the breathing technique I didn't like it, but now that we do it all the time I like it. I think that the breathing technique helps me get my mind off things and get my mind on things that we are about to write about. I think this is something we should do all the time![:

  16. the breathing technique helps a lot when i close my eyes and as miss naugher is talking i can see what shes talking about. and in other classes its like starting out cold boom start to write and i dont really like to write but after i do the breathing technique i write a lot more.

    I love the breathing technique. When I first came in i thought the breathing technique was kinda crazy. Then after you told us even the big jock football players do it I thought well then we aren't to good to do it. The breathing technique really helps me write. Its relaxes me. In other classes when they ask me to write a paragraph I don't know what to write I'm clueless. Its like i need the breathing technique to help me so i can write. Also I like it because its very relaxing when you make us close our eyes and think about it it's easier to write it down or come up with what I'm gonna write.

  18. I think that the breathing technique is a positive thing. I have never been a good writer, but this technique gives me time to think about what I'm doing and not what the person beside me is doing. I have noticed that I tend to write more and sometimes not be finished when it is time to stop.

  19. pretty much we have been doing the breathing technique ever since we started school. It has always helped me clear my own mind if something is bothering me. It really has helped me in this class since we've been using it. I've enjoyed this class very much since the first day I walked in here.

  20. I really like the breathing technique. I think that it helps me to write better. It makes writing relaxing. Instead of a teacher walking in and saying "alright students write a story on this." That makes it very stressful. The breathing technique prepares me for writing a story.

The first time I came in this class I thought the breathing technique was weird because I felt a little uncomfortable, but it turns out, when I wrote afterwards, I realized that it helped me a lot more than I expected. It helped me focus on what I was going to write and how I was going to write it. It also helped me stay on the subject. I think the breathing technique has been helping me be more productive since the beginning of the year. It's really helping my grades, also! I think we should continue down the breathing technique in Miss. Naugher's class because it's not only helping myself, but it's also helping other students in our classroom.

    The breathing technique is pretty sweet. It gets me focused and helps me think of something to write about faster. My grades in this class are pretty good but I don't know if it's from the technique. The technique also makes me a bit drowsy, but over all it's pretty useful.

  23. i think is kinda weird that we do this, but when we do this it relaxes me and it helps me think. it really helps me with what im fixing to write. like its a way to focus and to think about exactly what you want to write about. its a good way ti think. it relaxes you a lot. and like if you're having a bad day it helps you calm down. but then again thats what i think

  25. I do like the breathing technique. It gives me a chance to think, but it doesn't stop me from thinking about anything else. I think it is kind of weird having our eyes closed in class too. I still like the breathing technique though. I just think you should change some things about it.

  26. I enjoy the breathing technique! Since I come from P.E I'm a little tired in here, so this makes me even more tired; but that is the only problem that i have with it. The breathing technique does clear my thoughts, and i think having our eyes closed is helpful because everyone is distracted by all of the other people if they are open. I like how you give us ideas as we have our eyes closed, because your ideas usually help me to think more on the topic you give us. Overall, i like the breathing and find it extremely helpful to me.

  28. I really like doing the breathing technique! It helps me to relax and focus on my writing. It feels good to be able to just take a minute to stop and relax, unlike all of my other classes. Sometimes it doesn't help me write, but lets me think. I would hate to see the breathing technique taken from our daily routine!!!

It also helps me to brainstorm better than writing on an outline. Whenever we do the breathing technique, I can get my thoughts together in my head and I am able to write longer, better stories.

  30. The first day of class, I thought the breathing technique was strange but, now I like it. Before I write,I have a hard time getting my thoughts together and organized. But, the breathing technique allows me to relax and think about the topic we're writing about. I especially like it on hectic days because when we do the breathing technique, I can relax and forget about the day. Then, I'm able to focus what I'm supposed to do. The breathing technique, to me, is very productive and I hope we keep using it!

  31. I think its just breathing and there is no real point in it. I thought it was strange and kinda cool the first day but I think it just takes up class time that we could use on your assignments. It doesn't keep me any more focused than I already am. I don't really like it though.

  32. I could care less about the breathing technique. It doesn't help me much at all. I believe it is a lot better than Brainstorming on paper. I have always written out of my head, because brainstorming on paper slows me down, wastes my writing time, and makes me forget some of my ideas for the story I could be writing if the teacher would let me write it!!!!! Also,If Im riled up about something, that is where my thoughts will be, breathing technique or not.

  33. I personally think the breathing technique is very effective, because it helps me focus on the subject matter; whether it be writing or doing class work. I gather my thoughts, and it makes me stop thinking altogether about what's happened so far throughout the day.
    Honestly, on the first day of school I thought it was strange, but it really did calm and relax me. English class wouldn't be the same for me if we didn't do the breathing technique.
    It helps me think about what I'm going to say, and past experiences I've had on the subject. I write better an longer.

  35. I really like the breathing technique. The first day I did it I thought it was really weird, but then I got used to it. It helps me concentrate on english and writing and clears my mind of anything else. It's calming for me to do the breathing technique. I never like writing my ideas on paper because it ends up messy and I hate when it's messy. The breathing technique lets me think about what I'm going to write instead of having the stress of thinking about something right on the spot and writing it down. It lets you think about your idea and you don't have to do web diagrams or whatever the others are called. If you do the diagrams then you end up forgetting what your story is about, but the breathing technique lets you think about your idea and then just write down your story.

In all my other classes i have never done anything like this, but i wish we would because it helps me relax and get focused. The breathing technique is very creative, and i love it!:)

  37. I personally really think the breathing technique helps me. Like, in the past, we would have to do webs or do a brainstorm on a sheet and turn it in for a grade. And I REALLY didn't like that. Like when we did that, i felt as if I was just listing things. Like there's no creativity. When I do the breathing technique, i feel like I'm in my work. Which really may not make a whole lot of sense. And during the breathing technique, I can gather all my thoughts and opinions on the topic. It just has helped me with my writing A LOT this year

    Hm... what do I think about the breathing technique? Well, I really like the breathing technique because it helps me to relax and open up the creativeness of mind and flow. In my past English classes, is was hard for me to come up with an idea for the prompt the we would be doing. When I do the breathing technique though, I come up with good ideas easier and quicker.
    When i close my eyes, it helps me to focus on the prompt instead of anything else in the room. I can see it in motion, like maybe a flashback. When Miss Naugher asks us questions, it gives me an idea and puts that idea in motion. So... yes I do like the breathing technique a lot.

It clears my head and makes me relaxed, I like writing and doing the breathing technique helps me gather my thoughts better than when I try to brainstorm. Maybe we could have two breathing techniques and we could alternate between them so that it wouldn't be so repetitive. But over all the breathing technique is a really good idea.

  40. On the first day of school when I came in here I hated the breathing technique. I thought that it was really weird and different. Now I like it better. I like how when she is giving us our writing prompt that you give us different ideas about what to write about while we are doing the breathing technique. Last year I spent most of my writing time trying to think of what to write but now that she gives us ideas it is so much easier. The only part that I don't like about the it is the actual breathing part. I think when she is telling us to breathe in and then breathe out i think that it is annoying. When she is doing that I feel like I am at the doctor or something. That part is kind of weird.

It helps me concentrate on what I'm supposed to be doing instead of thinking about something bad that happened the day before. I even use it at home sometimes, if I get mad about something. I think the breathing technique works very well.

  44. I really like the breathing technique. It is a way to relax your body and clear your mind. While doing the breathing technique we brainstorm about what we are going to write about. I like doing that way better than writing everything down on paper. If we were supposed to do that it would be called paper storming. So i like the breathing technique.

    I think the breathing technique works because it clears your mind and makes you focus on the topic easily. When we did the webs and outlines last year, our thoughts weren't really on the topic. Our papers were harder to write because our mind was drifting off the topic. The breathing technique relieves the stress and anything else that might get you off task. So, I think we should keep it because it keeps us always on task and ready to write!

    The breathing technique, really helps. I really like it because, it helps me clear my mind, and concentrate on what Im about to write about.At first I thought the breathing technique was really kinda crazy.I thought the feet flat on the floor thing was kinda crazy, because some people might not like to put there feet flat on the floor, like me.To me, that would be the only thing about the breathing technique I would like to change.I think you should keep the breathing technique tho because it really helps out a lot, to help you think better and clear your mind of other things.

I personally think the breathing technique helps me get focused!!!It has made me become a better writer because i have more thoughts after i do the breathing technique..Usually the beginning of 6th period i have a headache.After the technique i never seem to have a headache anymore.Sometimes my day is'nt that great , not just because its not a good day just because there might be something going on that i cant stop thinking about.For example, my cousin left this morning at 9:00 to go to the army its very scary and sad and i have been thinking about it all day non-stop,Well when i came to 6th period Miss Naugher had us do the breathing technique everything just seemed to fade out of my head except for the subject she was talking about!!To me the breathing technique absolutely words good and gets me focused!!!

  51. In my opinion, i absolutely love the breathing technique! It relaxes me and gets me way more concentrated. I think i write more creatively after we do the breathing technique. Sometimes, since i have her class after lunch, it makes me sleepy. And when i'm sleepy I write more freely. Also,while doing the breathing technique it sometimes brings back old memories...and that kinda gets me off the topic:P
    But personally, i think we should do it everyday in every class ro get people more focused. I love it :D :D

  52. I think the breathing Technique is great!It helps a lot.To forget about everything that has happened and helps you stay focused on english not what has happened during the day. Its also way better than her telling us the directions out loud regular. You are so focused on what she is saying it helps you think about what your gonna write,other than her just telling us right when she walks into the door.Thats what I think about the breathing technique.

  56. The music in the room can sometimes be like the sound of nature, or waves, or guitar playing, or just anything like that. But it never has words with it, but i like that. The talking scale is zero to three; I like the talking scale especially when it is on three because i LOVE to talk

This year I think because of this class i have became a much better writer. Also this class has encouraged me to want to be a author when i grow up. The breathing technique is definitely useful though.

  61. At the beginning of the year, on the first day of school, we started the breathing technique. I thought it was a little wack-o at first, but as the year has progressed it started to make sense. When doing this it relaxes me and helps me clear my mind. It puts me in a better mood and makes me forget all the horrible things that might have happened that day. I look forward to getting into that concentration to write every day. My stories have turned out better the more we exercise this. It just wouldn't be the same without it.

    the breathing technique helps me write better and gather my thoughts after and during the breathing technique for an assignments. i use to write small paragraphs and now i write until i can't think of anything else to write. during the breathing technique i become very relaxed and it helps me think. at the beginning of the year i like the breathing technique and i still do because then and now i become very relaxed during it.

    i like it because it focuses me on what were writing and gives me time to think and brainstorm ideas for the subject. Its also good in genneral because if your madd it can settle you down and it clears your mind.

I think better when we do it it is really soothing peaceful. The only thing I do not under stand is why we close are eyes mabey we could be distracted or something like that.

  68. I think the breathing technique is great because it helps me understand what I should be writing on, and gives me thoughts of what I should put down. The breathing technique takes stuff out of my head and I am more concentrated of what I am doing. some people think it is stupid but i don't. when we first started I thought is was weird than i got use to it. soon I got use to i liked it more. One day i thought i would try it and i had my eyes closed and relaxed than we got to start writing and i had more on my paper than i thought I had so that surprised me. I was so proud of Mrs. Naugher of what she did because that helped me really good. I came back to school and i was in her her class and I said lets do the breathing technique so we did it and i was so glade we did. I would not have any thing wrote down on paper if this was not for Mrs. Naugher.

  69. I like the breathing technique. It makes me more relaxed and focused. Because if we just sit there and think what to write it takes me forever to think about something. The music with the breathing technique helps too. Like when we where doing the scary stories the scary music helped me think what to write.

But now that we do it a lot i think its very useful! it gets your mind straight and thinking about what you going to write and you can picture it and be a lot more detailed!

    I think the breathing technique is really good. It helps me focus on the subject I'm writing about, than my last progress report or what I'm doing this weekend. It really relaxes me. At first i thought this was the most stupid thing I've ever done! But now I'm used to it and it really calms my nerves. It also creates a mental image for me, then I transform the picture into my words. But I really like the breathing technique and I think we should stick with it.
