EVERYONE'S A CRITIC...6th Grade

THE HTMS REVIEW PROJECT:

In the upcoming week Dr. Gilchrist's classes along with the other 6th grade English classes will be doing student reviews!  Students will pick to do one review of a business or product in Trussville, AL.  The review can be a book, place, product, business, store, restaurant, or movie.  In the next week, 6th grade students will be learning about how to write opinion pieces, how to support ideas and thoughts with persuasive details, and also learn the needed skills that will allow them to write towards specific audiences.

Here are the Requirements:

1.) Students must write one review (either negative or positive) and turn it in for a writing grade.  Students need to give sound reasons to support their opinion in the review.  (100 points.)

2.) Once the rough draft review has been "checked off," edited, and enhanced, they are allowed to move forward with a final draft.  This draft must be accompanied by a visual representation of some kind.  Students can creatively express their reviews through online blogs, videos, YouTube, consumer reviews, Urban spoon, the local newspaper, and even posters hung in the windows of the businesses themselves!  I will help students find the correct outlet for their creative strengths and parents can help as well.

3.) Students will rate each product, movie, book, store, restaurant, and or business with the HTMS REVIEW rating system.  The system revolves around awarding 1-5 Husky Paws.  Five paws is the most excellent category and a rating of a 1 paw, which represents the most negative product reviews.

Happy Reviewing!

    Yogurt Mountain:

Yogurt Mountain is a fabulous place to eat a yummy dessert anytime! Also, many times they have seasonal flavors such as Peppermint in the winter, and Peach in the summer. You can always get gift cards that have awesome deals for this fantastic dessert. Yogurt Mountain has delicious, creamy, smooth yogurt that is to die for. You will surely find a flavor you like among the many varieties available.

And, there’s more: there are loads of various toppings that are as exquisite as the yogurt itself. As if that’s not enough, the service is amazing and not to mention the humongous bowl size! There are only two areas that “Yo-Mo” needs to work on. A heaping portion of yogurt with several toppings is quite expensive, buat you do pay for what you get. The friendly servers weigh your bowl and that is how the price is determined. Also, sometimes, there’s a long wait, although that problem is because of a lot of business which is always a great sign.

All of my experiences at Yogurt Mountain have been amazing, therefore I give Yogurt Mountain 4 ½ out of 5 Husky Paws!

  2. Munoz Mexican Grill

This restraunt is an out of this world place to eat. With many friendly workers and will always keep fresh salsa and chips at your finger tips. The chicken soft tacoes are amazing and the chicken casadea is to die for. On a hot summer day you can sit on the patio while drinnking a nice coke or some sweet tea. The smooth cheese dip os another thing I recommend cause it is so smooth with the tasty salsa. Their foods with meat, uses alot of meat without tillers. The service is exceptional and has 1reasonable prices. So I give Munoz Mexican Grill....5 Husky Paws!

  3. Avengers- Movie Review
    Jake Morris 7th Period
The Avengers is a great movie! The plot is riveting. It has many surprise twists and turns. Such as, when Thor, Iron man, and Captain America battle in the forest.

Also, this movie has amazing special-effects. All of the scenes and characters look real. It's as if you're watching a live video! The fantasy is perfectly balanced with the reality, so at times you feel like it could happen.

Last, this movie kept the marvel- type suspense and action in it.The movie makers also added a bit of comedy in the movie when you most need it and least expect it. It is a movie you will enjoy over and over. Overall, I give this movie 5 PAWS!

  4. Buffalo Wild Wings Review

    6th Period

The local Buffalo Wild Wings in Trussville, AL is the perfect place to go if you enjoy sports, wings, and a bar! (Even though I'm 12!)

When I first walked through the door, I felt right at home with the flatscreen TV's and the sporty atmosphere. When my family and I got seated at our table, I noticed that there were NO CRYING BABIES! (Although my brother's nine) I enjoyed this because I enjoy a place without unnecessary acting and/or crying like at McDonalds.

I looked at the menu and it had a list of hot sauces for your wings. I had medium (just right), my dad had hot (insides burned for 2 days), and my brother had plain (scared of sauce, I guess). You always have the choice or 6 or 12 wings.

I give Buffalo Wild Wings 5 HUSKY PAWS and you will, too. If your a wing lovin', sports watchin', insides burnin', kind of person...YOU WILL LOVE Buffalo Wild Wings.
