For your first blogging assignment, I would like for you to look back at all the memories of your summer and take a mental picture of a particular moment you would like to keep forever. Once you have this mental "snapshot" of summer, I would like for you to describe the picture in full, without telling us exactly what your picture is about. What I'm wanting you to do is
create an image with your words. This week we'll be covering figurative language and will talk much more about painting a picture with your words. See the first comment (below) for an example. When you finish, go
through and read what other people have written...see if you can guess the picture that their words have created.
I attempt to hold my hat with my right hand, as the motion begins to given me an excited, yet sick feeling in the pit of my stomach. Sweat rolls down the glass of ice water in my left hand. I feel the waves beneath my feet, bumping me slightly off my seat with gentle nudges. The motor purrs like a wildcat. I see mouths around me moving, but can't hear their words. All I hear is the motor and breeze. As we cut through the water, it begins to part as I watch the intricate aqua designs fade off into the blue.

DeleteLook Daddy! I had been waiting all day for the little cuties to come out of the bushes. They looked so cute as they hopped around on the pavement. I had never seen one so small! I finally got up all the strength in my body to try to hold it. I bent down, put one hand infront of him and behind him, and he jumped! That cutie jumped right into the palm of my hand! I had always thought that they were big and slimy, but this one was adorable. I couldn't wait to go back to the beach and catch some more!!!

DeleteIt Was electrifying with lights and people. There were pepole That were going to work and people dressed up in crazy costumes.There was alot of people acting crazy in the big city. Factories were all over the place like the main store of products.The stores were packed and it was a fun time. The food was the best ever and history was made in this city. DeleteThe summer wind is blowing and men, women and children listen to music and laugh together. you hear people yelling and screaming and people munching on food loudly. you get in the water and you see your sister riding on the jet ski and your parents driving the boat. She splashes water on you and you see the friends walking in and out of the house. You then see the neighbors and there children jumping off of there boat and swimming away. Hours later you get back in the house cause it willl get as cold as 62 degrees at night.

DeleteLast summer,I was at the top of a 5 story building. I was on my tube getting ready to go down. The lady gave my a push off the ledge. When she pushed me off though I was turned backwards and I was about 1 foot off the slide going straight down. Finaly I hit the slide then I went up and did the same thing and I finaly got to the bottom of the slide.

DeleteI grasp tightly onto my towel so it doesnt run away with the wind. I set down my stuff on the soft,warm sand. I feel my body already warming up due to the hot sun. I hear the waves drifting up and down the soggy shore. I gently sit down next to my family, waiting to get tan. I hear the seagles squaking in the backgroung. I slowly get up and sprint down to the water. I finally feel the cool, relaxing feel that you get when you get in the ocean. I had been waiting for that feel all summer. I bend down and a wave went over my head. I feel the sting in my eyes, but it also feels refreshing. My body is wet and cool now. Finally i had gotten what ive been waiting for since school was out.

DeleteThe sugar fell on my lap and shirt!I cram the rest of it in my mouth.The birds were flying all around my feet ! I do all of this I as watch the boats pass by. All I can smell is sugar and coffee. I hear birds chirping and people yelling off of the boat. The mouths of the people around me sound so loud , but I do not mind because I am having such an amzing time! By the time I am done I have sugar all over my shirt and my face ! The trees , boats , and sugar made this walk from the hotel totally worth it since we walked everywhere on this trip!!!!
ReplyDeleteI threw my line in the water. We rocked back and forth when we hit a wave. My pole jerked and I pulled it in and I caught a flounder ! My uncle threw out his line he felt a jerk and he caught another flounder! That night we ate the flounder and they were really good.

The next day we werer going to the city. laughter was pouring out of our mouths as we atempted to walk up the stairs to get a drink. ReplyDeleteI ease into my seat as a worker comes and pushes a saftey bar on top of me. The ground starts to move beneath me, and suddenly I am a little nervous about this ride. On top of the first hill my seat slows to a stop. My friend behind me screams as I look back at her. Rattling sounds errupt all around me.Air is now blowing in my face, making the drips from the water slides disappear. The friend beside me screams but I can barely hear it. After the last hills, we finally come to a stop.I can't wait to go again.

DeleteI am talking to my mom when suddenly I am pulled under and tossed around. I scream and wave my arms, but it doesn't help,I'm too deep. I see the red flag in the distance, and suddenly I'm up! I'm soaking wet and water drips down my face. I realize I just flipped around in the water with fish sweimming at my feet. My hands pump with victory that I lived.

DeleteDye goes everywhere as we squirt it. My cousins and I keep having to refill the bottles. We all like the same colors. In some ways it's fun, but in some ways it's not. I love doing this. It's very fun. I had to wear one of my uncle's shirts. It's way to big for me. I still love all of the different colored dye

DeleteI look around me and see Cinderella's castle. We ride attractions, and have a great time. The next day we go to Epcot, we ride the attarctions and eat dinner at France. The next day we go eat breakfast at the animal kingdom, we saw all different characters and animals. As we left I rembered all the fun we had there as our car pulled away.

When I arrive its loud from all the kids and i look around for my friends. The bell rings and i have my books in one hand and nothing in the other. The bell rings and Im ready to begin the day.
ReplyDeleteAs I stand there waiting I feel the wind in my face and feel the boat swaying. I feel a sudden tap on the end of the pole I start twisting the nob as fast as I can for fear the dolphin will take my prize. I see the dolphin dive towards it, I reel faster and faster but for no use I feel the sudden pull and brace my self. I feel as if Iam fighting an underwater elaphant. The sudden release in presure confirms my fear. I reel in the emty line knowing I will never see dolphins the same way again.

ReplyDeleteAs I was going up the big hill,my stomach turned and we suddenly stopped.I heard a roar of a monster called a yetti and saw the shadow of its claws,as soon as in disapeered we were going dow the big hill backward and spinning around the other way,backward,forward,right,left untilwe went down a big hill.Dropped I dont know how far,until we go down our last sudden drop that leads us to the exit.Then we continued our way through Animal Kingdom.

DeleteI felt awesome! I saw the guards changing every time. Then I saw Usain bolt run, run,and run all the way to the finish line. I took pictures. I got a hat for 5 pounds! It was cool. It was a uk hat. We saw the princes palace. I went in and took a picture of a monument there. I guess it was cool. We went to see a preview of the winter olympics in Sochi Russia in 2014. I held the actual olympic torch! It was AWESOME!
ReplyDeleteAs I walk outside I feel the breeze from the blacony. As we go down I feel the ground all grany and soft rubbing my toes. As we are exploring for aquatic animals we find some friends here and join them. As we say goodbye with each other I knew we had a fun time and we now go back to our restting place we wait for the day for fun and relaxtation in th summer sun.

DeleteI was sitting in my chair on the poarch on my tent. My friend was doing the samething and two yellow jackets keeped on flying around. I slap at my leg and a mosquito flies away. It was really hot so I took a sip from my water bottle. All the sudden my friend tells me it's time to go to the next activity so we get up and leave.

Onces we got there we went straight in to or place and there were other people there to. I felt happy that that my brother got married, but i was sad he was going away. Back to Mississippi he goes. I loved that night...
ReplyDeleteAs the wind is blowing agaisnt my face, the waves rushing to my feet i hear people having lots of fun. While the sand sticks to my feet and the heat hits my face I walk along the shore of the beach enjoying my view. The sand is warm agaisnt my feet and the breeze cools me down. The Beach is my favorite place to be. It is so relaxing and soothing. This was how my summer vaction was.
ReplyDeleteAs I was walking up the steps as my heart was beating really fast. I didn't know how fast I was gonna go. I was freaked out of my mind. I was afraid because I had heard some very weird mysteries about this. I got half way up and I was even more scared. In my mind I was wanting to go back down but I just said to myself that I would be brave. I got to the tip top and I was silent. I watched the people in front of me go. It didn't look too scary but, everybody said it was. It was my turn and they put me in a tube then they said go and I was going so fast that I didn't know what was happening I got done and thought to myself this isn't so scary after all!

As I was standing there I could feel my tight grip around the circular form I was holding with my gloves on. I could see what was coming as if it was alreasdy happening. So I lifted it and took a swing.

ReplyDeleteMy brother and I got in our seat and buckled in.We heard the tick tick tick all the way up.Next thing we know we where screaming!Tears were coming out of our eyes.The wind was going 70 mph.!We had the time of our lives!
ReplyDeleteI hear my alarm and I get out of my bed. I get the appropiate clothes on and I go down to breakfast along with my friends. Before we leave though, I lock the door so nobody will break in.
ReplyDeleteAfter breakfast, I get my shinguards, socks, and shoes on. I rush out of my dorm to go downstairs so I won't be late. My friends, team, and my coach get on the bus. We run on to the amazing Tuscaloosa field. I stand in the sunlight and start juggling the ball as my coach has said to do. We do drills and games. I start to get hot. It has to be at least 90 degrees.
Finally, he says to go get water. I run over there, drink, drink, and drink. Then, I dash back to the field to continue. Later on, we are released to go to lunch. After that, we head back out to the fields, eat dinner, go back to the fields again, and then we can do whatever we want to until lights out at 10:30. We repeat this for 3 days and we go home after this amazing adventure!
I stood there holding my flowers watching the tears rolling down the mother's faces. All of the girls matched and the boys did too. Watching two people fall in love was the best moment ever. Thinking about geating more amazing cousins in the future. The moment was the best i have ever experianced in my life! I know I will never experiance this again.
ReplyDeleteI stood in the batters box waiting for the pitcher to release the ball in her hand. There was two outs, and if we lost this game my team would hate that I ruined it for them. I looked around the bases and there was a girl on second and third. I took a deep breath and I smacked the ball as hard as I could and then I hit a popfly all the way to the outfield. I ran as hard as I could and the girl missed the ball and I ran to second and then the crowd started cheering. I had won the game for the team and that day we had not gone home to end the championship. That moment was the best in my life ever!
DeleteI stand there with the insturment ready for the operatiopn. I see the video on how to do it then we start we remove the outer shell.We quicly find the stomach and find other organs in the body.When we are done I despose of the body.I will never forget the time I disected a crayfish.

DeleteI had my life jacket on and i was getiing ready. i was standing up feeling the water brushing up against my feet. i was with my best friend hayden as we were waiting the almost "fatal" ride. we stood there feeling th breeze against our face. it slowly came time when it was time.

Deletei was standing there, the sun was in my face, the water was kinda cold and i felt the sand on me while i was at the beach. i was still really hot, but my friends were there with me. i got used to the water and it was actually warm. as we were in the water we saw these big fish swim by and they looked like dolphins. then a big wave came and i had the taste of saltwater in my mouth. i will never forget this part of my summer with my friends and family!
ReplyDeleteI heard my uncle call for me he said there was something was in the water.I got my swimsuit on and got in the water.There was something bumpy under me with ruged skin.My uncle told me to put my hand on it and i did,it started to chomp on my fingers.It didnt hurt it was kind of tickleish.My dad then got a hose that had fresh water coming right out of it.The creature then swam as fast as a lightining bolt over to the hose.When the creature drank the fresh water it started to roll over.After an hour the creature left back to its family.

DeleteAs i sat there i held on to my brothers hand so that he felt safe. He said why u holdin my hand i aint scared . I stopped holding his hand we started hearing ke ke ke ke tick tick tick . we started going up and drop!!!!!!!!!!!!!! we put our hand in the air and screamed as loud as we could lol.We came to a stop and in 1 second we started goin up and down.As we started my brothers shoe fell off. He had on nike slides and i had to put my foot on them so that they didnt fly away.It was so fun we wee both about to throw up.
ReplyDeleteI was peddling through the fresh salty air.I stopped waiting for my family members to catch up.The rubber tire skidded on the concrete.I stood there calling "hurry up!"Once they came we set off.
ReplyDeleteI was in the dressing room the door swayed back and forth as the people went in and out. My mom was doing my makeup, I slid my dress on. My coach came running in Marina lets go.I put my guards on and I tried to keep up with him. I took my jacket off and my name was pronounce .I steped on the ice I felt the wind on my face and the cold breeze I did my begning position where am I?

DeleteAs i felt the soft sand in between mt toes,with the cool ocean breeze in my face. I saw sparkelers everywhere !!! the sky was lit with color I saw little kids running and playing !!! I could also here the live music by the pool of our condo!"Sweet Home Alabam" the man sang.It was the best thing ever!!!
ReplyDeleteWe drove through Tennessee with the wind whistling through our hair. We got to the street our hotel was on. "What an unusual street name", I thought.
ReplyDelete"Whoa" I said. Out the window, I saw an arcade, mini golf, theme parks, roller coasters, and various other things.
"Wow", I said.
"And to think this place is named after a city bird and a blacksmith tool.
I hear the waves crash on towers of sand. Little kids shouting with joy at eating ice cream. The waves are almost still, the water crystal clear. I'm sliding down, feeling that soft rubber material glide gently off my skin. For a few seconds, I am flying. I slowly start to descend into the crisp waves below. I crash into them, I burst up from the perfect water, seeing the guys next to me gape in awe. I taste the saltwater in my mouth. To most it tastes terrible. To me it tastes like victory.
ReplyDeleteI hear screaming, cheering, and booing. I hear the ump holler strrrrrrrikkkkeee! There was strike one. Here comes the next pitch, a little out of the box. I watch it go by me as the base-runner steals second and as the catcher scrambles to get the ball to fire to second. Then, the next pitch comes. A strike right down the middle. My favorite kind of throw right where I want it. I heard my bat go ding as I struck it hard as I could. I drop my bat and leave a trail of footsteps to first, second, and finally third. I had got one person in, and I was on third. There were no outs. As the next batter was walking up to the plate, I got my lead off. The pitcher was getting set on the rubber. My coach flashed the bunt signal. I got ready to run hard. The pitch was thrown and the batter bunted just a few feet past the plate. I ran home. They threw it to first, he was safe. They threw it home, and I had gotten safe.

DeleteWe were sitting on the choppy water when the engine suddenly started. We had to lean back so that we would not sink. The engine hit regular speed and we were on our way. I looked to the side and saw the other boats. The people on the other raft were hitting some rough waves. I turn to make sure there are no waves in front of me. When I turn to look at everybody else, we suddenly hit a sharp turn and are thrown to the other side of the wake. We are trying as hard as we can not to to tip over and flip. WHen I look over a third time the other tube cannot handle it anymore, and they finally flip. We have to turn around and pick them up. When the engine stops roaring I let out a scream of enjoyment and jump into the water.

I look back at a man one last time till i was pushed down backwards.I screamed for my life but had the best time.I twist and turned putting my hand on the cold wetness going across my finger tips.All I could see was pitch black darkness.then behind me was a bright light waiting for me.I told my mom that we were almost out she said,"yeah!"When we got into the 3ft water i said ,"lets do it again!"

DeleteWhen i woke up ,I put on my clothes and went to a friends house, on the last day of summer. he brought out a slip and slide, put soap on it,so it would make it more slippery.The next summer we put a sprinkler under a trampoline, and started jumping from balcony stairs onto the trampoline.

ReplyDeleteAs I walk down the diving board over my friends house,I was nervous about jumping inside because it was too cold. When I was on the diving board my friends started telling me to get in already. I told them I was going to as soon as it warmed up. So I sat there with my feet in the water. Suddenly, my friend Cameron Cole came up from behind me and pushed me in the water. I was mad at him but I realized that it wasn't that cold.

I start paddeling.We got to the deep water and started to tip, I screamed.In the end we didn't flip.We got out of the calm water,into the more choppy water and rode a HUGE wave in.
ReplyDeleteI felt the cool salty air run across my face. The water was fierce. We went everyday. Its the best feeling you have ever had. After we left I immeditly want to go back. It was a long ride home about 5 hours but it was tottaly worth it.
ReplyDeleteI was sweating from the exousting heat. We had to wait 45 minutes. Finally, we got up to start. Once we got buckled we stared off at 120 miles per hour. Then we finnished in 17.86 seconds. It felt like it was done in a blink.
ReplyDeleteI was in the warm water siting beaside my mom and dad. We turnd on the jet steemers and sat back and realaxed. We got out got some soda and started talking. Then my sister and two brothers got in and started to talk and have a good time. After a houer we all got out and saw we had so many drie off.

ReplyDeleteThe wind was in my hair .Water was spalshing in my face . I was screaming I saw thorns in front of me .Then all of the sudden thorns were above my head. It was so much fun then I heard singing and I saw Dancing It was the End of the ride.

it was6:00am.i woke up my dad and frinds. and said lets go we are going to be late. when we got there i hoped on and was ready to go.whene everybody got on we took off. the deckhand told us the ruls.i felt the cool breeze in my hair.then we stoped and the fun began.
ReplyDeleteI'm on the beach and say throw it deep. My friend throws it deep. I come back and he says t.d. The other team gets the ball they run it and pass it but can't get a t.d. By the time they have done that it was time to go.

As I went around an island I ran out of gas. I yelled to my dad there is no more gas. He said hit the extra gas button. I did and I went home and I went to sleep.

ReplyDeleteSweat dripping down from my forehead.My face looking down at the hot red turf.My heart is anticipating the gun.I look up and then the gun goes off.I feel my legs moving fast I hear in my head "every second counts".The finish line is so close but yet far.I hear yelling which motivates me to keep going.I keep moving and moving but before you know i had already crossed the finish line.When i get my medal i feel the cold medal rubbing agaist my neck.I felt victory i didnt reach for it i ran for it.
ReplyDeleteWatching the beutiful red dirt sway through the air. Hearing the trees move and hearing buzzes in my ears. Listening to a ball hit the mit. Looking at the beutiful shinney bats clinging. Hearing the fans go wild. Staying with the most special people to me that I love greatly! My summer was tons of fun and had lots more adventures during my 2012 summer!!
ReplyDeleteI felt the warm welcome as I got on.It was a particular beautiful day and it was kind of cloudy but that didnt ruin my happiness.All the memories came back at me of when I did this before.It was just the same as its always been.Same waves,same wind,same green and black water just how its supposed to be.My family and I do this almost every weekend at our lakehouse.Its our favorite thing to do.But then the fun ended and my dad was driving the boat back to the dock and then came me and my friend last as we pulled ourselves on the deck from the tube.But then we do some swimming and were off again on the tube.
ReplyDeleteI was siting and listening to the soft hoof beats on the ground.i was watching the beautiful beast with the black mane whipping in the air.I saw another beautiful beast with a white mane.It had a buddy right beside the beautiful beast.they both were looking at me suspiciously.
ReplyDeleteI wake up and I feel the cold air on my skin. I can hear the birds chirping in the distance. All the while my tent mate is snoring away. The trees swaying in the wind. The stream trickling behind me.
ReplyDeleteI was in the middle of a cartwheel more than 100 feet in the air with 6 inch glass holding me up. In my veiw I could see a beautiful Grand Canyon below. On my face all you could see was happiness. At that moment I felt the best I had in a while.
ReplyDeleteIm in panama city a place called Shipwreck Island. I go through a crowd of people on my tube soon i near the waterfall. then i dropped into the ten foot pool. After that me and my brothers went back to our condominium on seagrove beach,Fl.
ReplyDeleteI am on a balcony 16 floors off the ground. I am sitting in a chair with my new Blue Angels Tshirt and hat on that my best friends mother bhought for me. I feel the wind on my face and I can smell the salt in the air. All of a sudden I hear the loudest noise I have ever heard! The noise roars in my ears. It is so loud I can feel it. It shakes the balcony! Then I see the jets!! They are flying in perfect formation.
