8th Grade Children's Book Authors!
In order to creatively demonstrate their knowledge of:
- narrative structure
- story format
- the points in a plot
- how to determine author purpose
- knowing you audience as a writer
- using an established work of literature as a guide for your own composition
Students in Mrs. Gilchrist's class have been working on writing their own children's books (simple enough for a child) with some type of hidden meaning, moral, or lesson meant for adults. The kids have been having a blast with these and have worked very diligently to arrive at their final products. The author of the best books will be allowed to go to the elementary school to read their book to an actual class of students! :) Above are some pics of students on a book workshop day in class.
